OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of the foundation is simple: to support disadvantaged people and help improve people’s lives.
This includes support for people affected by poverty, illness, age, bereavement, hardship and lack of opportunity. The foundation also supports work linked to education, food provision, mental health, sport and collaboration between communities.
Rather than focusing on one single issue, the foundation supports practical projects where help can make a real difference.
A connection between Leicester and Bangladesh
OUR WORK IN THE UK
In the UK, the foundation supports local and national organisations, including the Army Benevolent Fund and Age Concern Leicester Shire & Rutland. It also supports local schools and community food projects.
OUR WORK IN BANGLADESH
In Bangladesh, the foundation supports major community projects including an orphanage in Sylhet, a clean water project across Bangladesh, and MBCOS – Muslim Burial Council of Sylhet, a free Islamic burial support service for local residents.
Founded by Abdul Giash
Abdul Giash is the founder of Spice Bazzar in Leicester and the driving force behind Abdul Giash Spice Bazzar Foundation.
Born and raised in Leicester, Abdul has built strong links across the city through business, community work and charitable support. Over many years, Spice Bazzar has become more than a restaurant. It has been a base for fundraising, food support, community partnerships and practical help for people and organisations in need.
Abdul’s work has supported local charities, schools, healthcare workers, sports-related causes and community groups across Leicester and Leicestershire. This includes ongoing support for organisations such as the Army Benevolent Fund and Age Concern Leicester Shire & Rutland, as well as food support during the Covid period and help for local schools.
Alongside his UK work, Abdul has remained closely connected to Bangladesh. Through the foundation, he has supported projects in Sylhet and beyond, including an orphanage, a major clean water project, and MBCOS – Muslim Burial Council of Sylhet.
The foundation brings this work together under one name, creating a clearer structure for the projects Abdul has helped lead, support and develop. It reflects his belief that business, community and personal commitment can work together to make a meaningful difference.
